On a recent visit to the NY Botanical Gardens, we found newly renovated Stone Mill to be a beautiful venue to have an event. It has a fabulous terrace that over looks a brook and pictures can be taken at the near by Rose Garden!!

BIZ BASH - by Ted Kruckel - "New York International Gift Fair "

Turkey-feather Christmas trees, drunk Santa figurines, Pantone placemats … welcome to the Gift Fair!

Nancy Hoehler, a grade-school chum who is starting a new event company called ShimmerNYC, called me for advice on where to get ideas and inspiration, and I immediately said, "The gift fair is the bomb.” Of course, it was a dizzying mass of vendors last week at the Javits Center, so vast and unknowable you wonder, “Could there possibly be a market for all this stuff?"

And I’m sure a more efficient buyer would make lists of brands he wants to see, then mark off little X’s in the two-pound program containing what seems to be 10,000 exhibitors. But I chose instead merely to wander, point, and shoot. Here’s what caught my eye.

At the NY Magazine Wedding Event I had the pleasure of meeting the woman behind Shimmer NYC.  It is a new event planning and production company based in NYC.  They can help you with any type of an event and assist with planning from the beginning stages all they way through the end for onsite management.  I recently did a cake for them for a lovely 40th birthday party they put together.  I shared some photos below.  Head to the website, ShimmerNYC or drop her a line at nancy@shimmernyc.com.
